And it was a total and complete B-L-A-S-T.
For our first night, Meg and I thought it’d be better to go short and keep ’em wanting more rather than make people feel like they were being held captive until 1 a.m., so we kicked things off with a short + sweet four rounds of trivia. We mixed things up with two rounds that centered around a timely theme (January and Pop Culture As Relating To Cold, Ice, Snow, & General Winter Suckiness) and two rounds of general knowledge (Geography and Local History). We mixed in some brain-bustas with some gimmes so that everyone could feel equally smart and dumb, and varied it up with True/False, multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, and general answer, because who doesn’t like to be reminded of the golden test-taking days back in school when we were lame kids who weren’t allowed to drink during tests?

With a full house and six teams, it was a close race for First, Second, and Third Place. Third Place was won by the team Goob & The Girls, Second Place was nailed by The Cat Ladies (whom, it should be noted, were not in fact ladies a t’all, but two fine gentlemen who caused waves of “Who was THAT?!” questions from the female attendees after they exited the premises later that eve. Which also proves another fine reason to attend Tipsy Trivia: If you’re looking for a single someone to have an intelligent conversation with, Tipsy Trivia is a good place to find one. Mostly because dummies don’t do trivia), and the First Place was taken by the team Salzbury Steaks. Big, huge, incredible, sloppy thanks to Tipsy Triva sponsors The Wine Cave & The Courtyard, Hayward Coffee Co, and Meg Marie Photography for providing the most excellent prizes. Honorable Mention goes to our favorite Team Name of the night, “We Livia For Trivia.”

Tipsy Trivia will be back at The Wine Cave & The Courtyard on the second Saturday of February (Saturday the 8th) with 6-8 rounds of trivia. Categories will again range from special themes to generalized knowledge, and we’re already working on one special category that we think will delight and entertain as much as when we spontaneously decided to play snippets of “The Heat Is On” between questions (my favorite part of the whole night). Keep checking this space and our Facebook Page for further details and developments!
